(I am referring to Honeycomb 3.1 in the rest of this reply).

There is no "stock" version of the Honeycomb, AFAIK. Honeycomb has been released by Google to various manufacturers, e.g. Motorola, Acer, etc. These guys can choose to implement the "stock" version or add their own bloatware to it. Any ROMs you see floating around are basically device-specific ROMs that have been ported to other apps, e.g. before Acer released a 3.1 ROM someone had ported the Asus ROM to the Acer.

So, yes, you will have to wait for an Acer version of 3.1 unless you want to root the device and flash it with either a leaked ROM (which I did) or a ROM ported from another device.

Incidentally, the Acer version of 3.1 is out in several countries, but not in India yet.

Cool. Here is a noob question. Unlike mobiles, the tablets can be upgraded to stock Android right? One does not have to necessarily wait for an Acer version of Honeycomb right?

Spiti valley is a slightly different beast. But we are indeed trying to work on "lessons learned" from our last trip(s), respectively.
